
Mulled Apple Cider with Whiskey
Yield: 4-6 servings.
Ingredients
- 1/2 gallon Apple Cider
- 2 Cinnamon Sticks
- 6 whole Cloves
- 1 Star Anise pod
- 6 Allspice Berries
- 1/2 Vanilla Bean, sliced lengthwise
- 1 Apple, cored and sliced
- 1 Orange, sliced
- 1 cup Water
- 8-12 ounces Whiskey
Directions
- In a large pan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, allspice berries, vanilla bean, apple slices, orange slices, and water. Bring to a boil over medium/high heat, then reduce to medium/low heat. Let gently simmer for 30 minutes.
- If desired, pour the mulled cider through a fine mesh sieve to strain out fruit and spices.
- Pour 1-2 ounces of whiskey in a mug and fill with mulled cider.
- Serve immediately.
