Mulled Apple Cider with Whiskey

Yield: 4-6 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 gallon Apple Cider
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 6 whole Cloves
  • 1 Star Anise pod
  • 6 Allspice Berries
  • 1/2 Vanilla Bean, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 Apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 Orange, sliced
  • 1 cup Water
  • 8-12 ounces Whiskey

Directions

  1. In a large pan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, allspice berries, vanilla bean, apple slices, orange slices, and water. Bring to a boil over medium/high heat, then reduce to medium/low heat. Let gently simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. If desired, pour the mulled cider through a fine mesh sieve to strain out fruit and spices.
  3. Pour 1-2 ounces of whiskey in a mug and fill with mulled cider.
  4. Serve immediately.
