Why Small Business Matters (And Why We're Proud to Be One)

We make things that bring joy to your everyday. From hand-carved motifs to the subtle spirals of throw marks, every detail exists to make you pause and smile. Beauty shouldn't just decorate your space; it should fill your daily rituals with something worth savoring.

Over 20 potters craft our pieces by hand on traditional potter's wheels in our Woodstock, Vermont studio. The rest of our team is intentionally small, with dedicated individuals leading product, marketing, creative, wholesale, customer care, and more. We work alongside a small but mighty crew of retail and warehouse associates.

We source and shape roughly 36 tons of clay each year, transforming it into pottery made in the U.S., in small batches. Here's why that matters:

one

Made & Designed in Vermont by Real People

Our pots are handcrafted in the U.S. by a community of over 20 skilled potters. Many of them are young artists building their livelihoods in rural Vermont, where craftsmanship still thrives. When you choose our pottery, you're directly supporting these artisans in a world that increasingly favors mass production over meaningful work. Our other wares are thoughtfully designed right here in Vermont by our founder and ethically produced with partners in the U.S. and around the world who share our commitment to fair labor and quality craftsmanship.

Each Piece is Unique and Made in Small Batches

When you hold one of our pieces, you're holding something that can't be replicated — pottery shaped by human hands on a traditional potter's wheel. Each piece carries the subtle marks of its maker: a fingerprint in the clay, a slightly asymmetric curve. It is evidence of years spent perfecting an ancient craft. We produce everything in small batches, which means popular items like our Collector’s Edition Winter Mugs often sell out. Each piece you bring home could be one of the last ones we make.

Rooted in Community

Our flagship studio and workshop occupies a former bible bindery building right in Woodstock, Vermont, where we're part of a tight-knit community of small businesses and local shops. At our store you can browse finished pieces, watch potters at their wheels, and see works-in-progress drying on the shelves. We love when you stop by to meet the makers, ask questions, and learn about the craft behind each piece. Beyond our walls, we source our clay locally from New England suppliers — keeping every stage of our process rooted in the community we're proud to call home. From clay to pot, it all happens here.

Beautifully Imperfect

Every every throw mark, glaze drip, and slight asymmetry is proof that a real person made your pot. Our felt is hand-stitched, our hand-turned wood carries natural grain variation, and our glassware is mouth-blown. These aren't flaws; they're signatures, and proof that something was shaped by human hands. We celebrate the beauty of imperfection because it's what makes each piece irreplaceable. That said, we hold our work to high standards. If a pot doesn't meet them on the first throw, we reclaim the clay and start fresh. The clay never goes to waste. It's how we balance authenticity with quality, honoring both the craft and the material.

Meaning Over Convenience

We can't compete with two-day Prime shipping. Our pieces take time to produce and to carefully pack and ship by our small team. Sometimes they arrive a little later than you'd hoped, and sometimes you'll find a subtle imperfection. We see it as evidence that your piece passed through many pairs of real hands on its journey to you. And that's precisely the point. You're not choosing convenience; you're choosing something meaningful, made with intention, and worthy of gifting to someone you love or building a daily ritual around. The wait is part of what makes it matter.

Turning Rituals into Routines

You could drink your morning coffee from any mug without a second thought. But when you hold a handcrafted piece, one with weight and texture, it brings you back to the present. You notice the subtle curves where the potter's fingers shaped it. We see rituals as the simple act of noticing. Of being in the here and now with something beautiful and intentional in your hands.
