Meet The Potters

Our pots are handcrafted in the U.S. by a community of over 20 skilled potters. Many of them are young artists building their livelihoods in rural Vermont, where craftsmanship still thrives. When you choose our pottery, you're directly supporting these artisans who choose craft over mass production. Meet the faces behind the Farmhouse pots.

Founder & Potter #1 | 15 Years

These days, my curiosity goes into my team and designing upcoming collections. I get into a flow state — whether it be at the wheel, at the drawing board, or surfing in the ocean.

I love the tactile nature of pottery making, and the repetition required in production becomes almost meditative. In my own practice, I'm interested in a different kind of repetition — in line, pattern, composition — and what the viewer's eye contributes when the rhythm in a pattern is subtly broken.

Becoming lead glazer was a fortunate accident and now it’s my career. My passion is in the pursuit of wildlife and the outdoors.

My favorite part about making pottery is being able to transform a lump of clay from the earth into a functional piece of art. Outside of making art, I like to go swimming in rivers and lakes, and cuddle with my cat, Miffy.

I took work in production pottery as a chance to learn new skills. My favorite part of the production process is glazing, and I like to listen to audiobooks as I work.

I love doing pottery because I am participating in the oldest human craft. Outside of work, I have my own sculpting practice.

I enjoy the rhythm of production work and seeing pieces through from start to finish on a larger scale. Originally from Rhode Island, I spend my time outside of the studio exploring Vermont and I love playing tennis!

I love pottery because it’s one of mankind's oldest technologies but people are still making new, interesting forms! What do I put on the studio playlist? Freebird.

My parents were potters so I grew up around the craft but didn’t take it up myself until I was 43. I went in the army for 4 years, carpet cleaning for 15. In 2013, my dad made me a last-chance offer to learn pottery, so I took him up on his offer. Been doing production pottery ever since. My passions are video games and shooting pool.

I love crafting pottery as a medium because of its functionality. When I’m not in the studio I’m crafting, antiquing or drinking coffee!

Production pottery provides me a daily routine focused on both mastery and play, which I enjoy so much. Currently, my favorite pieces to work on are the Medium Olive Oil Bottle and the Medium Trunk Vase.

I traveled here from rainy Seattle, WA and I love Diet Coke. My favorite part of working in production is the camaraderie and problem solving.

Outside of making pottery, I practice many textile-based crafts, including cross-stitch, embroidery, and crochet. This year, I want to take up bobbin-lace!

One reason why I love wheel-throwing is because it allows me to turn lumps of clay into functional objects that can be enjoyed by others! When I’m not making pottery I’m thinking about making pottery.
