I purchased the Laurel Pie Dish less than a year ago, expecting a high-quality, long-lasting piece given its premium price point and the way it is marketed as “durable stoneware” that is microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher safe. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing.
Despite very minimal use — baking one pie and serving a few salads — and exclusively hand-washing and properly storing the dish, the finish began cracking and peeling off. This is not a structural crack from an impact; it is the surface finish peeling off, something that should not occur on a piece advertised as durable and suited for everyday kitchen use.
When I reached out to the company, I was offered a 50% discount on a replacement rather than a proper exchange, even though the dish is not even a year old and the issue appears far more consistent with a manufacturing defect than customer mishandling. The explanation I received suggested that an “accidental knock” must have caused the problem — despite the fact that the piece has been used and stored with exceptional care. For the price of this item, I expect the finish to withstand normal, gentle use without deteriorating.
Overall, I’m very disappointed that a $155 pie dish would show this kind of wear so quickly, and even more disappointed that the company does not stand behind the longevity of its product. It's a beautiful piece aesthetically, but the quality and durability are simply not aligned with the premium price. I cannot recommend this product based on my experience. I would not purchase from this company again — lesson learned.
