Mulled Apple Cider with Whisky

This mulled apple cider with whisky is elevated by warming winter spices, the sweetness of oranges and apples, and rich vanilla bean. An ideal après ski warm-me-up, this drink is perfect for when you get off the slopes or simply for curling up at home!

  • 1/2 gallon Apple Cider
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 6 whole Cloves
  • 1 Star Anise pod
  • 6 Allspice Berries
  • 1/2 Vanilla Bean, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 Apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 Orange, sliced
  • 1 cup Water
  • 8-12 ounces Whiskey


  1. In a large pan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, allspice berries, vanilla bean, apple slices, orange slices, and water. Bring to a boil over medium/high heat, then reduce to medium/low heat. Let gently simmer for 30 minutes.
  2. If desired, pour the mulled cider through a fine mesh sieve to strain out fruit and spices.
  3. Pour 1-2 ounces of whiskey in a mug and fill with mulled cider.
  4. Serve immediately.
