As the days have grown longer, our rituals have shifted with the season.
Morning coffee has moved from the kitchen table to the porch. Evening cocktails are paired with leisurely walks through the garden. Observing these environmental changes is both a form of meditation and creative inspiration for me.
My favorite ritual these days is brewing a cup of coffee in my percolator. It’s a simpler, quieter process than the espresso machine demands and sets the tone for mellow summer days. It preps me for an afternoon spent swimming in the river, on my skateboard, or surfing in the ocean — my go-to summer activities.
My kids and I have fond memories of swimming in the Ottauquechee River behind Farmhouse when they were little. Now that they’re older, we enjoy taking trips to the coast together during their summer vacations.
